GREAT news for those who claim "I can't sing!"
Elaine Haugan has retired, and we will miss her! Her passion for excellence and her love for all have made membership in our chorus a delightful experience.
She joined us in January 2013. We enjoy her tremendous energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and love of barbershop which she joyfully shares with us during each rehearsal and performance.
Elaine has an impressive background with Sweet Adelines! She was recruited into Song of Atlanta in 1977 (when they were still a part of Region 9), and she's been singing in choruses and quartets ever since—in fact, many of you may have sung with her, either officially or in the wee hours of the morning at a Regional Weekend! As a tenor, Elaine has competed almost every year in quartets and choruses, both in Region 23 and in Region 9 (Royal Palm Chorus, Women of Note, and Spirit of the Gulf). She has won numerous awards, including many quartet medals. One of her most special memories is of competing with Fireworks! Quartet (Region 9) at the international level, and placing 12th their first time on stage! She currently performs and competes with Women of Note.
Elaine has earned many accolades, including the International Harmony Classic 1st Place medal won by the Women of Note Chorus in 2005. She has served on the Music Education Faculties of both Region 23 and Region 9 and obtained her SAI Director's Certification in Region 9 several years ago. She has proudly served as Assistant Director, Associate Director, and Interim Director of the Women of Note Chorus, and currently holds the role of Frontline Director of Platinum Show Chorus, leading us to a third-place win in the Region 9 Competition in March 2015. In April of 2016, our chorus improved our overall score by 21 points, an excellent accomplishment!
